Once the rain begins

It may never stop

Damp upon my face

Evidence of my pain

Someone opened up the floodgates

To my very soul

The waters painfully gush from me

Ripping, tearing a path through my heart

Like lightning bolts, the memories flash

Behind my tightly shut windows

Reminding me of sunshine, blue skies

And flowers in the spring

My heart beats like the thunder

Within my retching chest

The clouds have never been so dark

So Gray, So threatening

Soon the clouds will float away

And leave a arid, empty shell

Painfully cold inside

Yet...there on the horizon..

Is the hint of a rainbow.

~~

It's always there, that future hope, when pain will recede and life wins out.
