A handsome prince, he reels.
To slip them on he kneels.
Tell us how it feels
to flash a pair of heels.

Are they long wicked sticks
with sharp pointed picks?
Do they make little clicks
as you leave a trail of nicks?

Or evoking the vibrant stance
of the wild gypsy dance,
are they less the dangerous lance
and more like passionate romance?

Are heels a woman's dare
to trap a man unaware:
She displayed aloft with care,
the bait in a wily snare?

Or does man secretly conspire
to enflame his own desire,
and cause the woman to acquire
the fragile inverted spire?

How exotic the attaching place
and erotic the binding lace.
Will heels ever efface
the rival hat that holds a face?
