you lean in with those thick-rolled
dark lined lips, barely touching my mouth
with your tongue

a tiny moth flutters out of sleep
against the bones in my chest

i can just make out the waning
face of the moon reflected in your eyes
          and you're gone

the sidewalk overflows with people
trafic singing dissonance
 iron and glass
a length of air between us
pulls the glass into threads

i realize ive been holding my breath
and the moth in my chest drowns
