Aching in the darkness
Tears I cannot show
Twisting, restless longing
For love I've come to know

Captive I am held here
Smothered deep in fears
Layers of deception
I've woven through the years

Safe, my heart was hidden
Never to be broke
The role mere fabrication
Until true love awoke

One who loves me deeply
His heart, my hands to hold
Will find the need to hide his heart
When truth is finally told

Love put forth in ernest
Crushed and raped by men
Caused my souls retreatment
These walls I hid within

So now the fallen walls
Allow my heart free reign
But in its freedom pay the price
Of causing others pain

One has shown true love
Stood by my every sadness
One has kept a distant stance
Unless my face held gladness

Logic steers the path
Towards staying with the one
Who's interest does not falter
Despite the lack of fun

Logic plays no part in this
The science of it lost
The heart that I kept hidden
Has now to pay the cost

Is it best to love
Or be loved through the years?
An age old question pondered
Through days of hidden tears
