You seem to know me so intimately well
And keep me suspended under your spell
A brazen stare, a scratch or a bite
Keep me wandering aimlessly in the night
Your attitude is harsh, your touch a feather
Am I so transparent when we're together?
There's a look in your eyes that I can't place
But it makes me want to hide in disgrace
And yet, I find myself returning for more
Because I never know what's in store
You say love only leads to complications
And unrequited love only creates frustrations
Am I in love with you? Your guess is as good as mine
You'd be better off asking why the stars shine
Do I think about you often? Yes, of course I do
And yes, I would like nothing more than to see you
Out in the world, away from the crowd
To walk with you would make me ever proud
Is that love? I'm not sure I really know
Whatever it is, I promise not to let it show
The simplest things are the hardest to control
They often slip away no matter how tight you hold
I'll never try to hold you, because you weren't meant for me
I'll be content just to see you, and talk for an hour or three.
