A New Series of Poems –
INTRO - High School Reunions

High school reunions are a terrible thing
Whoever invented them should be hanged
From the goal posts or above the gym door
Decapitated and dissected on the cafeteria floor
I graduated back in 1965
Damn it to hell I'm still alive
They say reunions go on for 50 years
So this is the very last
No more gym floor dancing when it's passed

This is the last reunion later this year
Reason enough to drink some beer
The minions will gather to assess who fell
from grace
To observe who has retained their place
I doubt I'll show up at all
Even if they call or ring because
High school reunions are a terrible thing
