The first day, a soft pink glow entered my life.
Absently, I enjoyed its presence.
The next day a streak of red flashed before my eyes.
And I was taken aback, momentarily.
Each day I grew more awares.
The orange, which warmed my soul.
The yellow, which calmed my madness.
The gifts were small, inconspicuous.
When green wrapped itself around me,
I was alarmed.
My mind warned of jealousy and envy.
until it nestled comfortably next to the yellow.
Slowly, I appreciated the precious gifts bestowed me.
The blue, cooling as it quenched my mind's thirst.
Then, finally, came the purple, and I was in love.
God had sent me a rainbow.
Despite my arrogance, He saw me worthy.
Patient with my ignorance, He was persistent.
Giving me one of the greatest gifts of all.
The rainbow opened my eyes to
the beauty of the world
and led me to you.
