How many hellos have I heard before?
And never thought about them at all
Phone rings and there it is
That ever familiar “Hello”

But his hello was different
His hello was magical
And grand and the o’s
Dragged on forever

His hello was cheerful
And always happy to hear mine
Greeting me with joy
And buckets full of love

His hello was filled with a million words
Stories and laughter and worth
Filled with tears and silence
And always filled with love

His hello had love down to a science
The ‘h’ alone was hugs and happiness
And the ‘e’ and ‘l’s’
Those were enveloped with love

His hello made me smile so big
Made me laugh and cry
Made me grin and giggle
And thank God that I was alive

I have heard a lot of hellos before
An awful lot of hellos
But never was there ever
One as lovely as his hello.
