Trembling lips whisper
Glistening eyes wonder
Softly she asks
Don’t you love me?

He laughs it off
What’s love anyway?
He knows not, that’s for sure

But girl, he thinks
Your mouth shames the nectar
Your gaze dims the sun
Delicate skin stabs my desire
Carefree laughter warms my soul

Other guys stare
Even that I won’t spare
When my hands can’t reach
Then you’re too far

What’s love anyway?
He does not know

He takes her hands
Grinning he says
You’re in love with me

She closes his palm
To her supple rosy cheek
Words flowing
For her man to hear

Certainly, how can I not be?
Such a strong man you are
Such smart things you do
In your arms I melt
Nothing like this I felt

But darling, she thinks
More than I care for me
Is how I care for you
May no hardship let you astray
No harsh words be sent your way
For this my every breath prays

What’s love anyway?
She might never know

A very interesting poem... fairly soft and gentle. Thanks.
