When you say you're only thinking about the present
I remain the peasant in you presence.
For me, living in this present ain't so pleasant.
I perform for the prince, for the hope of something other than indifference,
I please the king, for the hope of a someday ring.
I distract the lord, for the hope of the ador
-ation that you will never bring.
Although the tzar has certainly charmed the
Admiration, adulation, idolization from your idle relation with me

There's no obligation, but I don't think these feelings are all my creation
I think all this means is that you're afraid to commit?
Afraid that things might shift to shit?
Yeah, things might shift to shit.

But I'm willing to take the chance, sir.
Willing to risk a lance, sir
A lance causing my heart to rip for romance, sir
I don't mean to upset our balance,
but it's already tipped. I'm already chipped, nicked, slivered, splintered, splinched
You've already accrued jagged pieces of me
As if you could read my psyche, as if you knew
That I'm in love with you.
