Hold me
when all hell breaks loose
and my heart shatters like a fragile vase
colliding mightily with the cold, hard floor.
- For I know not what
had brought about the chilly gaze
that could freeze the molten lava in my soul.

Hold me
when the tears that flow
from the eyes you likened to the night sky
fall like meteorites to destroy my world.
- For I know not what
had brought about the cruel words
that would put the devil himself to shame.

Hold me.
Just hold me close to the body
that had once promised me paradise.
- For your arms are the anchor
that keeps me safe
when the tides of fate
threaten to wash away
the reds and greens and blues
that break the bleakness of my life.

Hold me,
and I will burn you with the fire
that had caused angels to fall,
melding heaven and hell
in an earth of forbidden desires.

Hold me,
and I will show you the way
to the promised land of which you spoke:
I will lead you there,
over and over until I can no more.
Just hold me.
