I was thinking today on the way to work about 2 different words. And how their meanings can change.
One word is hope, the other is wonder. I was thinking about how how you sometimes meet someone and you click. How you begin to hope that you will see that person again, to speak to that person again. How you hope that the person feels the same connection you do. And if you are lucky enough for all these things to happen, you tend to look at that person with wonder. Amazed that what you had hoped for could be all you thought it might be. More incredible yet is when that person returns your gaze with that same look of wonder, with their heart full of hope, and their spirit light. All is well. Then somehow as you travel through lifes unpredictable journey, a subtle change occurs, day by day. Weighing down your spirit the brightness of your wonder fading a little and you begin to wonder.... and you hope it is not true, that perhap the glimmer of hope is fading for that someone too. You wander through your days hoping this nagging feeling will go away, and wondering what tomorrow will bring. You wonder if the other feels these things and hope that they do not. You hope they do not see the tears rolling down your cheek, and wonder if it will matter if they do. Hope and wonder once your words of joy now become your words of despair.
