It's over, complete
finished and done-
The battles are over
but nobody won.

Forever, once, was
what we both said.
But the passion is gone;
it really is dead.

Emptiness now
is what you will find--
That is, if you're looking
forward; not behind.

A life filled with nothing
no hope; not a song.
A road, oh, so lonely
and twisted and long.

The path we were on
while never smooth, had at least,
moments of triumph, and passion,
and even some peace.

None of those do I see
in my future for now,
but go on, I must,
for the children, somehow.

"For the children"--Ah!
What a goal!
Do what I must
and perhaps, when I'm old--

Passion and hope, and completeness will reign
hand in hand, together;
one and the same.
