the chrysalis
always gets torn
to shreds

blossoms brown and drape
and lush fruit ripens
on their corpses

relinquish
your paper fans
and crimson roses

at the moment
when the breathless flower
of the firework
bursts in your vision
do you mourn
its bright paper?

relinquish
even the name
keep only the blessing
and light the fuse.
You will not miss
the lavish body
from which
you will emerge.
