How high can you fly with broken wings?

I stand upon the edge and wonder
Though the sky is vast and mountains tall
And the world spins ‘round and ‘round asunder
If I wanted- I could fly away from it all.

I could soar high as the birds so free
Not a care for any dangers that lay around
As I glide above all, just myself and me
And discover of myself what I never had found.

How high can you fly with broken wings?
What can you dream without a heart?

Higher and higher above all I know
Passing each memory across the dales
Lighter and lighter like each flake of snow
My soul breathes once again and slowly exhales.

Betrayal and pain cannot reach me here
I’m alone and free and once more alive
Soaring past all I only knew with fear
I climb to the clouds to rest, and I sight.

How high can you fly with broken wings?
What can you dream without a heart?

I step back from the edge and ‘round I gaze
At the flowers in bloom and the life so new
My mind clouded over in a thick haze
As the hurt subsides and I smile with thoughts of you.

How high can you fly with broken wings?
What can you dream without a heart?
I’ll fly as far as the dove that sings
And dream a dream that we’re never apart.
