is a persons mercy measured by their greed
a tilted cycle, balanced by their passion
for those who want little, feel more
and those empty, their hunger immense
feels only their belly's rumbling desire for more
both feel their appetites yearning

do those who nibble have more harmonious dreams
or perhaps their shackled by fear
what fantasy's lie with he who never gets full
is fulfillment obtained by the quest
and if the journey is not complete
are they lost, starving for a destination

is it a pet or is it a beast
buried deep within the gut
that is given passion in a timely manner
or tossed a bone to keep it tamed
till game can be achieved

platters are merely a meals vessel
the tongue aches to be caressed
while the tummy waits to hold what its given
be it tid-bits of joy or be it staple, anything,
to temporarily subside, hunger
