annoying is the need to mate excess in search of bliss--
accoutrements that exist to entomb serenity.

give me generic jeans and cigarettes,
a soft biscuit from the hearth,
poems to still the brittle wind
and my rise within her need...

oh shoot,
perhaps a melting pint of chunky monkey
on a sultry summer's eve might be ok, too.

Done while sitting in 90 degree heat selling off my wife's "treasure" at a garage sale (I've made $4.25 so far). For those who have not partaken in Ben and Jerry's heavenly manna, Chunky Monkey is a brand of tasty ice cream.

Love it

As someone who has pulled the pin on the rat-race to enjoy life and family, I enjoyed the sentiments in this poem. Affluenza we call it here. Oh, I have never had a chunky monkey and I'm sure it's nice, but I would be leaning to a nice cold beer... Excellent work.

Love the idea

I love the idea of this, but I think the first lines are (probably intentionally) overstated. Of course, I prefer Cherry Garcia so this may just be a question of taste :)
