I Danced With the Moon

I danced with the moon on the day of the wolf,
and the lamenting crow chased man o’er the abyss,
and the sun hid its face from all of this.
I sang with the whale when the dolphin cried,
to the seal that man had forgone his promise and lied,
for the benevolence of man has faded and died.
I followed the eagle o'er the ruined plain,
and the valley beyond with the civilized stain,
that repulsed all the efforts of the Great Spirit's healing rain.
The forest be my sacred bower,
the cedar and fir,
the holly tower,
to fur and feather I do cower,
for my breeds sour of nature's hour.
I do my part to heal and win,
nature's forgiveness of man's sin,
I prey the Great Spirit when mankind is done,
my spirit be allowed,
to sing at least part of the song.
I prey the spirits of those who comprehend,
mother earth her kit and kin,
a joyous return to nature's womb,
let us run with the wolf,
and sing with the moon.
