I glimpse a goddess.
Hair like fire in the sun.
Sweet alabaster skin.
Beauty out of place in this world.
Better suited for Olympus,
with ambrosia on your lips.
Or Tir na Nog,
with flowers in your hair.

I would build you a temple,
made of marble and gold.
I would make you a shrine,
and fill it with roses.

I would worship you with my words.
Sweet offerings in secret whispers.
For your ears only.
I would worship you with my touch.
Feeling your locks of silk fire.
Caressing all your hidden places.
I would worship you with my tongue.
Entwining it with yours in soul-searching desire.
Tasting every part of you.

But you belong in a different world.
I watch you fade away.
I glimpsed a goddess.
And I'm mortal left longing.

I liked it and have experienced the feeling you so aptly describe...too many times.
