Click hereI have done it all in many states:
Dancing the Tennessee Waltz - I was the “old friend,”
Making love in the Moonlight in Vermont.
I've been to California and known lots of California Girls,
Each one a Queen of California, all of them blond pearls.
They say Ohio is for Lovers, and of course that is so.
And it was indeed a pleasure not just to Look at Miss Ohio.
Then I heard that Indiana wants Me, and I hurried to her side.
She did and then did show me how Midwestern girls can ride.
The Kentucky Woman and the Jersey Girl were fine,
And then I met Sweet Virginia, who was even more divine.
I took the Midnight Train to Georgia,
With Georgia on my Mind. But before I ever got there,
Sweet Georgia Brown, I'm sorry, it was just so unfair;
In the train I met her and discovered when the sun was dawning;
Nothing can be finer than to be in Carolina in the Morning.
Thanks, maybe. At least there aren't stalkers here telling me they can't read and blaming me.
the poem had some interesting things going on
You are both right, and after looking at your long lists of poems and reading a couple, I think I had better stick to prose. Thank you for commenting. This was inspired purely by song titles, as one of you recognized, just playing at an attempt to incorporate a few. The other poem I wrote 40+ years ago - hardly have to suggest how it was inspired. She never saw it.
of many states as well as a series of pop songs, what? no Florida? time to travel on...and keep at it!
