I love you in bed.
I love you other places too.
Like on the couch at midnight,
or when you climb in the shower,
and then in me.
But this poem isn’t about those times.

I love you in bed.
When we lie side by side.
You say you love me,
you think I’m beautiful, sexy, and smart.
All those things you say about me.
That way you look at me
and you’re surprised I’m still with you.

I love you in bed.
When we don’t say anything.
You run your fingers along your spot.
I curl up closer and wonder
how did I manage to get so lucky?
I stare at you and kiss you and
you moan and smile so I do it again.

I love you in bed.
When we laugh and you tickle me.
We joke and have fun.
It doesn’t matter if we have sex,
but we both know we will.
We attack each other,
because we can’t keep our hands
off each other, or don’t want to.

I love you in bed.
When we both put on our serious faces.
We need to talk,
about us, or me, or you.
We look stern or tearful.
Sometimes we whisper or shout.
I need to be heard, or need to hear you.

I love you in bed.
When we make love.
And then cuddle and curl up.
We hold each other like we’ll never let go.
And then we promise we won’t.
We kiss and then your put your hand
right there and we sleep.
