I see it in your eyes.
When you say you care.
I see it in your eyes.
When you say you'll be there.
I see it in your eyes.
When you say the ways you love me are too many to count.
I see it in your eyes.
When you say me, you couldn't live without.
I see it in your eyes.
All the truth you try to hide.
I see it in your eyes.
What you really mean deep inside.
I see it in your eyes.
The lies all disintegrate there.
I see it in your eyes.
It's in your searching stare.
I see it in your eyes.
That you don't love me to your core.

It's all a game and nothing more.

Cleardaynowalmost 10 years agoThis is far and away your strongest poem from yesterday in my view.
I think that we all have an inbuilt resistence as readers to diatribes - the writer inveighing bitterly about someone or something. It is a bit like being at a party and someone buttonholes you and talks about all their woes. You do not necessarily doubt the truth or sincerity but....
This one has the restraint, the structure and the rhythm to punch through such resistence. I think it is a very nice poem.
