our trip so many yeas ago
through the lakes country
hills alive with color
mirrored in the lakes
top down on my MGB

you leaning into my shoulder
long golden hair
trying to take flight on the breeze
blue eyes bright, excited
the body warm scent of your perfume,
that tiny inn on the lake
our first time together
your smile, our kiss after

thought about you
didn't want to,
but I did.
Tried to think of someanybodything else,
the house, my book, our kids, TV
but there you were.
interrupting, interfering,
interjecting your shadow.

I missed you today.

watching leaves falling
