I want a love to stand beside me
hold my hand and walk with me
hold me close and talk with me
kiss my tears away and steady me
if I start to fall
and if I need you,
come running when I call
I want a boy just learning to be a man
someone who'll love me all they can
someone I can trust in and respect
a guy who'll keep up with school
and work,
and not leave me in neglect
and doesn't try to hard to be "cool"
I want another as lonely and forlorn as I
who longs to be held and comforted in fright
who dreams of something and does all he can
to keep that dream in sight
he isn't afraid to admit
wehn he's wrong in a fight
and apologize of stand up for
what he thinks is right
I know you are out there
somewhere
maybe you're reading this even now
maybe you're a good friend
and we've hidden our feelings somehow
and so we'd settle with a glance
a simple little joke
while inside we wish for love to be real
I realize that you could be a stranger
we pass in the halls everyday
we never seem to follow fate
and so I'm calling to you now
you may not hear but I know we'll
be together soon
