I want to HATE you;
to scream and rage against loss and silence.

I want to HURT you;
to scratch your face so your pain shows, too.

I want to STAB you;
to jab deep so your wound won’t heal.

I want to BIND you;
to leave you no escape from truths.

I want to SLAP you;
to make warm tears roll down stone cheeks.

Yet hate and love, unlikely friends,
live side by side in human hearts.

And memories, with tireless tides,
wash bitterness away.

While hate burns hot, with rage its friend,
foundations hold against the flames.

My house won’t fall, despite the fire
that smolders in my heart.

(oh god, I WANT to hate you.)
