I longed for the highlands
My soul ached for the wide open spaces of the moor
I yearned for the majestic beauty of the empty hills
I’m homesick for a place that isn’t my home

I wanted the peace of mind I only find in this special place
I was trapped in a busy place and I wanted to get away
I needed to clear my head
I was desperate to jump on a plane and fly there
Why does this place have such a hold on me?

I wanted the song of curlews and the scent of heather
My ears needed to hear clear trickling streams
My spirit begged for the clear air
Why do I only achieve true peace when I’m there?

beautiful

what IS it that calls us to places we have never set foot upon? I like to think it is our past, remember by our DNA, programmed memories, to lead us back to where our hearts were most happy. LOve this poem, beautiful sentiment. HOpe you post more

hugs
