I would not cum like a thief in the night,
hiding in darkness and false cries.
Give me instead a full morning’s flight
and let me see how the land lies.

How could you be gentle, accepting and kind?
Your words—they support me like bones.
I would soar in your glittering, beckoning mind;
I would not hold down my sweet moans

Of longing, of searing, dry, sobbing gasps
I would flood the plains, purposefully free.
Your mercy pulls me, twists me, and rasps;
you’re lifting me up into me.

I feel you here firmly, strapping me in;
you tell me I’m ready to fly.
I love you. I already have all there is to win;
I would not question the why.
