If

If I ran a finger
lightly
over your wrist,
a prelude to sliding my hand
slowly up your thigh,
would you resist?

If, if, I slipped my hand
beneath your skirt
would you react, let them know
about the little show
I'm proposing for later?

If they weren't
waiting for an answer
would you turn to look at me
turn to see
the look on my face
as I watch yours
waiting for something to change
as my fingers creep higher.

If, if, I hitch up your skirt
will there be a hitch in your voice,
a change of pitch,
as I continue
would you let me
risk going further
in a room full of men
who can only but wonder
at the fresh blush on your cheeks.

If I knew you would reciprocate
this would be a worthy risk to take
but instead it keeps
my imagination working
and my hands wandering
over my own skin.
