skin crawls as the sun slowly melts...
fire drips into my eyes...
blinding me to the shiver of the stars...

a cool touch burns me...
slowly i am sinking...
i fight to disentangle myself from the enshrouding mist...
claws brush my scalp...
i am lost...

i wander slowly...
drinking in the beautiful sights...
i wonder to myself when the pounding will stop...
the ringing in my ears...
speaks of times past and thunder...

when the dust settles...
i am alone again...

a sudden stench assaults my senses...
i cry out...
and am corrupted...
the confusion takes over before the rain stops...
a tantalizing aroma now pervades the scenery...
my hands crumble...

beyond the grasp of my fingertips...
the dancing flames taunt me...
i must rest and the twilight invades my perception...

crowded rooms and stale cookies...
a forgotten bit of string...
lingers in the shadows...
echoes fade as the drums grow more insistent...

as the breaking point approaches...
the hesitation becomes inevitable...
and impossible...

the gentle breeze invokes memories of exotic locales...
never visited...
pitch black silence...
incessantly prods the sleeping beast...

soft crackling becomes explosion...
as the kindling catches...
flames stampede across the horizon...
ragged breath fans the fury...
the vast ocean joins the tender dance...

the stars trickle down in silence...
as the parade tramples by...
oblivious...
in a candid photograph...
the moment is captured...
it cannot be released...

a fleeting shade escapes...
bereft blooms begin....
to wilt and fade...

tenable excitement hovers...
throughout the trembling crowd...
hushed silence drowns passing whispers...
they cannot see the stage...

a mewling leopard slinks by...
he cannot find the others...
i catch a glimpse in the shadows...

the pitcher slips off the wall...
the impact splinters glass...
results in shattered silence...
the spreading puddle...
laps at my toes...

with a relieved sigh...
i slowly disintegrate...
relaxing into the void...
