Broken hearts don't kill
they cripple if you let them
Open wounds that slowly heal
take away a lover's will.
Its loneliness that's filling graves
of lovers unable to live alone.
Not me, I'm a player.

I'm bruised not broken
my heart is strong
failed attempts to crack it
keep me moving forward
(I'm not afraid)
riding without a helmet.
I'm a player.

Uncharted waters invite me
crystal clear with depth unknown
unpredicatable danger
watch me take the dive
in perfect form.
I'm a player.

Sexual roller coasters
(safest danger)
complete with thrills
gives me chills
fast and short lived
no harm done,
and oh! What a ride!
I'm a player.

Strange voices call to me
sending me the message
life is short,
don't give up
keep living outside my shell
I'm not a hermit.
I'm a player.

Racing forward to the finish line
out in front and all alone
Driven and fueled by lust and love
circling the track again and again.
Catch me if you can!
I'm a player.

Climbing mountains
I won't fall down
I'll reach the highest peak
my heart beats strongest at the top
different view of my world
stake my claim and then descend
no protection from the ground.
I'm not afraid.
I'm a player.

Bases loaded
My hearts alive
new pitcher on the mound
the crowd yells without sound
(encouraging me)
taking my turn at bat,
ready to play the game.
I'm a player.
