(a poem of humorous intention)

Lately, I’ve been lonely.
My place isn't homely.

Were they feeling sorry for me,
When they came crawling with glee?

A family of roaches were my only guest.
Look at them go, what was their quest?

I had great times saying hello and greeting them all.
But then I got tired sometimes. So I tried to smash ‘em in the wall.

One day I did the stupidest thing, being coy like a fox.
I put down roach motels, you know, the ones that come in a box.

These mini lodges have very, very sticky floors.
I gather the roach family was insulted and wanted no more.

They all packed up and left when they saw those ugly homes.
Not a single roach since then - in or out do they roam.

But I keep checking... I peek inside to see.
Oh, nobody home! So lonely is me.
