It was months that I waited
anticipating good will
in a deep, wise voice
well-rounded with instruction.
His displeasure took me swiftly
to my knees in need
praying for another chance
begging him to please.
Then please, I almost cried
I really don’t want to do this
but he did while I
just pursed trembling lips.
After all, I was his student
with dimpled, apple cheeks
and I would make him smile
whatever it cost me.
