I wanted to thank him
but he left as I was waking up
Now I guess he'll never know
I saw the sun peeking through the drapes
Drapes of velvet, hued the color of coffee's cream
and as I saw the sun, he floated off
His parting was so subtle
more a thought than an action
a mere whisper on the sigh of a dream
The gift he offered created the dream
A dream set free by passionate words
They built the chariot on which he rode
Brilliant and strong he came to my side
every desire within me he sparked to a flame
he gave me back every dream I lost
He'll never know how grateful I am
His words induced feelings that awakened my soul
And filled my night with reasons to dream
and though the day is just beginning
I await its surrender to the dark denim sky
where twinkles of luck dance with the moon
Where my lover will meet me
in my dreams
