In the Dark

byswallowedscream©

I lay here in the dark
A cacophony of lyrics in my head,
Snatches of someone else’s soul,
Putting into words, things I cannot express.
There is peace in knowing someone else felt it too
Sadness, because a voice on the radio can never hold your hand.
But a cold comfort nonetheless.

Who is going to remind me how to
Put moonbeams in pocket and
Stardust in my hair?
How do you stop looking for epiphanies
In someone else’s memories?

I roll over and try to forget,
I still don’t have any answers.
Close my eyes, and hum myself to sleep.
