She cries alone in the shadows of the night,
Nothing between her soul but the moonlight.
A steady rain of tears silently flow,
Shimmering, warm and wet in the moon's glow.
She lifts tear-filled yes to the night sky,
She aches and sobs, wondering why.

Her gaze searches and seeks "their" twin stars,

Intricately bound, she once had believed,
Where they were once so closely-weaved,
So close then, but now, further apart than earth to Mars.

As her eyes are on the night sky, she recalls His words of long ago,
Where ever you are, girl, where ever you go,
Look to the sky and you will know,
Even if we're apart by the many miles
Know my love is burning bright,
He said with a smile.
And now she's alone in the dark lonely night.

Wrapping her body in her own arms,
She sits and wonders how she believed in fate, in magic…charms

Shaking her head softly, taking a deep breath,
Her tear-filled eyes dried up for the night,
No one will be wiser in the daylight,
Unless they're allowed to see in their depths.

Lifting them to the sky, a flash of light catches her eye
Brilliant and bright it lights the skies,
She whispers the words of her childhood,
I wish I may, I wish I might…
Have the wish I wish tonight.
Closing her eyes and wishing upon the star,
Wondering why it's gone this far.
She wishes with all her might,
That all will be better, all will be right.

She's a solitary figure sitting there by herself,
Knowing her heart is tucked away, somewhere on a shelf.
Soon she rises, smiling softly, brushing away the remnants of her tears,
That she cried alone in the shadowed night, over missing Him, hating being alone, after all these years….
