It's been a long time since I've written poetry
You see,
I've been on this wild ride
A slip and slide romance
And most of the time I'm just so damned
Slammed with happiness
And my heart's been on my sleeve
No reason to conceal
Just feel the way it's meant to be
I've never quite gotten out of that
Flat teenage-angst ridden
Poetry-prose that says
Angry is the way to be
Me
So how can you redefine
Refine, if you will
The poet I want to reside in me
When she's just not angsting all that much
Such that words don't flow
There is too much cliche
In the way I feel
To write anything that wouldn't test
The best gag reflex I've got
And I wonder how she does it so well
Letting her poetry swell and soar despite the fact
That she's so open and honest and free
It's jealousy
Green and giant, lurking in a corner
But not learning, just leering
Fearing that I'll never
Get it
Back
