Stolen... one simple spring day
She ran and hid
Closed the door tight and locked it
Peeking out, now and again
Only to see the darkness and pain
To flee back inside to the safety
Found behind locks and walls

Many years down the road
As she slept away the hours
Whispers died, scars faded
Sands trickled one at a time
Measuring time lost and fogotten
While loving hands from above
Soothed and healed untold damage

A summer breeze, the scent of lillies
Permeated the gentle silence
Teasing the gentle soul hidden away
A child's laughter, the cardinal's song
Prevaded the peaceful solitude
Beckoned youthful spirit to come and play

She woke to sound and scent
Of ages long past, long forgotten
Peered through breaks in the walls
Put there by time's simple touch
Reached for the lock seldom undone
Only to have it crumble and fall

Released, unbound, free to be
She wandered through dreams
Following the light and laughter
Leaving behind the pain and sorrow
Shedding fears as a snake sheds it's skin
To emerge into the light, birthed anew

Her joy and wonder flooded the world
Touching lost and wondering souls
Sharing simple pleasures and treasures
Learning and loving, held dear to many
Healing with her naive tenderness
Teaching with her ingenuous dreams

Lost innocence now found
Simple and pure, infectious
One ripple spreading yet
Growing in strength as all is given
Protected by the love of One Above
Sheltered by the love of treasured few
