Today I wept for the loss of innocence.
The sweet bliss of ignorance giving way to experience.
I tried to dry my eyes and raise my head.
But I just sobbed from the knowledge that innocence has fled.
Today I weep, for innocence has gone.
Faded away like darkness consumed by dawn.
I cried out to innocence, I begged it to return.
For the comfort of ignorance my heart does yearn.
Knowledge is power and power corrupts.
Hindsight is 20/20 but it’s too late for us.
Our journey has begun and we must now face the fact.
Our innocence is lost and we can’t get it back.
