Out in the open,
Yet never seen.
The insecurities,
Lingering within.

Looking back in the mirror,
Never pretty enough.
Always too fat,
Never too thin.

Either too smart,
Or not smart enough.
Never good enough,
To be with someone.

People see what they want,
Never what it is.
Or look within and see,
The truth within.

Acceptance,
For who we are.
Is only a dream,
For one with insecurities.

Revealing self-portrait

Yet the reflection longed for

And desired

Is in the eyes of another. Well done.
