The man awakes from a long sleep,
Into a world that is far different from the world he once knew,
He has awoken many years later,
After a motor vehicle accident pushed him into a coma,
The man awakens in an empty hospital room,
He is alone except for the pulses and beeps of the medical equipment,
Struggling to remember, the man opens his eyes,
He desperately seeks the solace of another human being,
And yet he cannot remember who he is,
Or what led him to this period of time.
He is a man living an Interegnum,
He is a man whose mind has lapsed into its own Interegnum.
The door to his room opens and a nurse gently wanders in,
His eyes turn to her and he tries to speak but cannot,
The man has lost the ability to communicate.
It has been a long time.
His body has given up the fight, but his mind could not.
The nurse whispers a name unknown to him,
But it is his name,
The man has forgotten his identity
Everything to the Man is now new
And the man fears and yet is too sore to move.
Interegnum has just begun.
