Smooth, cool, and flawless fit in her palm.
The stone flies across the still dark water.
Watched with elation as it skips in perfect form,
The ripples from each bounce spread and merge,
Until the perfect pebble is lost forever when it sinks.
When the surface stills again, her search begins anew,
To find rightness among the infinite rocks on the shore.
For a stone that will skip carried on by her heart’s desire,
Bringing a brief magic moment, a return to innocence.

You created

priceless images. I'm sure many of us have skimmed a flat stone over a still water and seen those ripples that you described. Well done.

The perfect word with which to end — innocence, which is the feeling this piece exudes.
