At odd moments throughout my day
I am caught off guard, interrupted unaware
By a fantasy, a half-formed image in my mind
a hint of anticipation, remembered bits of conversation

Possibilities mill about like anxious ingenues
mingling with the questions, doubts and hopes
Will you be everything I've imagined?
Will I be good enough to justify your promises fulfilled?

I am eager, open, willing, waiting
even so, I am uncertain, a little afraid
I want you, to know you both in every way
talking, touching, being with you

I want to to open to you both completely
like a morning glory in dawn's virgin rays
to close my heart to all my groundless fears
and bare my soul for your inspection

I want to be all that you've hoped for
so much to live up to, to be
yet you don't pressure or make demands
I cannot wait to go on this adventure with you

Just be patient with me if I'm tentative
please don't think I will not follow through
I am not afraid of you, but unsure of myself
yet I want nothing more than to be with you
