Invisibility

I am invisible, I must be
As I waited by the doorway, waiting for you
Only to have you pass me by like
A lazy summer day with nothing to do.

I walked on water and flew in the sky
Like an angel with a purpose
And a lover without a reason
For only, simply, kindly being me, that’s all.

I touched your cheek and you brushed it away
Like your fine brown hair on a windy day
Never stopping to take a breath
Or holding the hand of a dear friend.

And in the rain, as I wait for you
With your favorite flowers and anxious smile
You walked by me without a wink
It felt particularly strange yet familiar
I am invisible, I must be...
