*Isabel and **Pablo

She struggled, barely got by,
her desk messy in the bustling bureau
but he knew her better,
saw her caged imagination.
His muse heard the rhythm
in her typing. He said,
“You’re a lousy reporter,
you fabricate, perfect for
a novel. Write books.”
So she did.

*Isabel Allende
**Pablo Neruda
