I heard the tone as I looked up from my chore
I couldn’t stand this place anymore
So I turned the corner, feet sliding over the floor
I didn’t look back, as I walked out the door

I met you smiling, standing ready, in the hallway
A grin came over my face, there wasn’t much to say
So we walked out together, after my brief delay
Getting into the car, I hoped today, would be a good day

At last the gray building came into view
And at last the door, we made it through
Greeted by my Mom, I didn’t want embarrass you
So up the stairs, we eventually flew

The first one sucked, so we tossed it out
You wouldn’t have known what it was all about
So the second one, we couldn’t have done without
Now if only I could get over my self-doubt…

Getting close, legs touching, yet something was amiss
And it could only be that missing kiss
So as the credits rolled, and we commented on this
Our lips touched and the dark room became a place of bliss

You skin was so soft to the touch
Trying to ease my arm around you smoothly like a clutch
I can’t think of anyone in the world I like nearly so much
So we continued on, doing this and that… and such

Finally just laying there, holding you gently
Gazing into your eyes intently

It can’t get any better than this
