I sit up wide and awake
My soul is yours
I wish you could take for now
And forever
And surprise my penchant
For your love
Which I could never
forsake
My eyes are open
And sting with tears
I only wish
I only want
Not another day to pass
For my life without you
Is only bearable and sometimes
So hard to take
I ask why, and how such an ache will
Not in this lifetime be fulfilled
Easy, gentle and sharing for
You and I to run wild
And kiss a life that will never be
Oh how I wonder and what it could be
If I had you always so next and close
To me
It will always be lonely with no escape
From a spell cast long ago
I dream and wish for another life
That could be and isn't now
But if I close my eyes long enough
Please, perhaps, and a wish
that wouldn't be
Because of capture, rapture and
You and I to love
can't we only pretend
If in another life we meet
I would never let you go
And always promise to
hold your heart and magic
Safely away with a life
only if and when we could
