His pierced lip resembled the sneer
of the villain in a graphic novel
and I loved that press of steel
against my willing belly. I slipped open,
stupid with want, and let him enter me
like a knife drawn through my body.
It sliced clean through my organs and my life.

I should have tied my thighs together
like an honorable wife and simply slit
a long, slow vein and slept. Instead,
I seek that one, that perfect edge,
that blade that slays so perfectly
I think I'll never sleep again.
