The pieces lie in a maelstrom of images,
making no sense to my tired eyes,
stinging and red, with unshed tears.
I sift through the box,
searching for understanding,
craving order and symmetry
where nothing but discord reigns.
Slowly something emerges:
a glimmer of how things should and could be.
Eventually the puzzle will make sense
and the disparate segments will realign,
forming a picture more pleasing
to my ever hopeful mind.
