"joe has nowhere else to go"

joe has nowhere else to go
so he comes here
he likes to tell his war stories
and drink his beer
he likes to show you the hole in his skull
now covered with a moldy skin
that feels like a spongy mushroom

a mortar charge brought the chopper down
and split my brain in half
he laughs...part of me
is still floating around
in a rice paddy somewhere

oh god joe oh man joe gee whiz

oh hell no smiles joe
dont feel sorry for me
the part i left behind you see
was the part that made me mad...

and then everybody has a good laugh
good old joe what a guy
and then somebody buys him a beer.
