You came into my life so unexpectantly,
So small and so needy I didn't know what to do.
You were so helpless and sick,
I thought for sure you would die and leave me all alone.
Everyone told me not to bother,
They all said you would not make it.
But as I looked into those sad, big, blue eyes,
I just knew I had to try.
You were all alone in the world,
Not even your mother wanted to care for you.
I was all alone too,
I couldn't bare to see you like I was.
I sat up every night, watching as you slept,
Every time your small body shook and rocked,
I held you in my arms.
I cleaned all your battle scars,
I tended all your wounds.
I taught you things your kind didn't know,
I taught you love and trust.
You follow me around the house,
And now when I look into your eyes,
Aside from their unique orange color,
I see nothing but undying love.
How you have changed my life,
So much for the better.
You taught my many things in this short time,
You showed me how to love.
You taught me that love doesn't have to be human emotion,
That even a small orange kitty can give love to a sad woman.
You taught me how to respect other beings,
With how you respect my wishes.
You try not to hurt me,
And I try only to help you.
But now I find myself at another crossroad,
Again I am hearing those hurtful words.
They say you will die in a year,
That you won't live to three.
They tell me I should give up on you,
But how can I ever give up when you have never given up on me?

You have written a letter to a cat.

Do you think you could show us something more about the kitten that would help us feel as you do about it?

You tell us, but can you show us as you did in "Kittens"?

What might you change that will make your reader want to read this again or recommend it to a friend?
